Warner Bros. has announced that it will launch 'Superman Experience: Defenders Unite' on April 18—coinciding with 'Superman Day'—at its studio lot in Burbank, California. The project is a location-based interactive gaming experience that integrates motion-capture technology, 3D glasses, and high-definition spatial audio.

According to the official press release, participants will hone their superpowers through training and work as a team to take on the villainous Darkseid. The experience includes flight simulation and tracks individual player scores in real-time, crowning a winner at the conclusion of the session.

A New Approach to Gamified Attractions

For this project, Warner Bros. has partnered with New Peak Interactive, the developers behind the 'Harry Potter' interactive wands. Beyond the core 'Defenders Unite' experience, the venue features 'Krypto’s Kennel,' a mini-game where players play fetch with Superman’s dog, and 'Phantom Zone Projector,' a two-player puzzle challenge.

This project adopts a 'gamified ride' model similar to Disney’s 'Web Slingers.' Lacking the footprint of a traditional theme park, Warner Bros. is experimenting with transforming its studio space into a pop-up entertainment destination to capitalize on the public's enduring interest in superhero content.

Although James Gunn’s 2025 Superman film was a commercial success, the character has historically struggled in the video game space. Developers have long found it difficult to balance Superman’s god-like power levels with engaging gameplay mechanics, a challenge that famously plagued early titles like 'Superman 64.'

Currently, fan anticipation for a Superman-themed game is largely driven by Unreal Engine fan-made demos. By opting for a location-based interactive experience rather than a traditional console title, Warner Bros. is looking to engage fans through physical immersion while maintaining brand momentum as the WB Games division recalibrates its strategy.

Tickets for the experience are currently on sale. Warner Bros. hopes this location-based initiative will serve as a new breakthrough for the Superman franchise in the interactive gaming sphere.
