Spotify is rolling out a new control toggle globally, allowing users to completely disable all video playback within the app. The feature applies to both music and podcast content and is available across all platforms and devices.

The new feature is not limited to individual users; Family Plan managers can also use these tools to restrict video access for each member of their subscription. The rollout is currently underway for users worldwide.

On mobile devices, users can find these controls under the "Content and display" settings. For desktop users, the relevant settings are located in the "Display" section.

Expanded Video Controls

This update preserves the existing toggle for "Canvas"—the short, looping background videos introduced by Spotify in 2019 to provide a visual supplement during song playback.

The new version also introduces two additional key toggles. One is dedicated to disabling music videos, while the other allows users to turn off all other video content, including podcast videos and vertical videos.

For Family Plan managers, this feature provides more granular control. Managers can configure video permissions for each member of the plan individually, much like managing other account settings.

Once a manager implements a video restriction at the plan level, the affected users will no longer be able to switch to the video versions of songs or podcasts.
