Microsoft has released two mandatory cumulative updates, KB5083769 and KB5082052, for Windows 11 to address security vulnerabilities and system bugs. According to BleepingComputer, these updates target versions 25H2, 24H2, and 23H2.

These patches are part of the April 2026 'Patch Tuesday' cycle. The deployment includes fixes for vulnerabilities discovered in previous months. Users can install the updates via Windows Update settings or through the Microsoft Update Catalog.

New AI-driven accessibility and control features

The update introduces significant changes to how Windows 11 handles image descriptions using AI. For users with Copilot+ PCs, the Narrator tool now provides rich image descriptions. On all Windows 11 devices, the feature now works in conjunction with Copilot.

Users can trigger descriptions using specific keyboard shortcuts, such as pressing the Narrator key, Ctrl, and D to describe a focused image. On supported hardware, Narrator offers instant, on-device descriptions, while the 'Ask Copilot' option allows for more detailed, customized prompts.

Microsoft also updated Smart App Control (SAC) to allow users to toggle the feature on or off without a fresh Windows installation. This change follows a previous disclosure from January 2026. When active, SAC helps block untrusted or potentially harmful applications.

Other improvements include refinements to the Settings app and File Explorer. The 'About' page in Settings now offers a more structured layout for device specifications. Additionally, Microsoft fixed an issue where the 'sfc /scannow' command failed to report error messages correctly.

For Microsoft 365 Family subscribers, the update adds an option to upgrade plans directly within the Account Settings menu. The update also brings design updates to the 'Other users' dialog box to ensure compatibility with dark mode.
