Leaker and journalist Sonny Dickson has shared images online of what he claims are dummy units for Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy foldable lineup, including a new 'Z Fold 8 Wide' model.
According to reports from theverge.com, the leaked device features a passport-like design intended to compete directly with Huawei’s Pura X Max and a rumored foldable iPhone.
The dummy unit suggests a significant hardware shift, showing a dual-camera setup on the rear instead of the triple-camera configuration found on existing Samsung Z Fold models.
All three leaked dummy units prominently feature rings that suggest support for Qi2 wireless charging. This would mark the first time Samsung incorporates this standard in its foldable lineup.
Competitive positioning
This move toward Qi2 support positions the Z Fold 8 Wide to better challenge Google’s Pixel 10 Pro Fold, which already utilizes the standard. It also places Samsung in direct competition with Huawei’s Pura X Max, a wide-style foldable that launched in China last week.
Dickson noted that the dimensions of the Z Fold 8 Wide align with the expected size of the upcoming iPhone Fold, lending weight to previous industry reports regarding sizing similarities between the two devices.
While the leaked images offer limited technical specifications, they provide a clear comparison between the potential Z Fold 8 Wide and Samsung’s current foldable designs. The device is expected to arrive later this year.
