GitHub has resolved a service incident that caused degraded performance across multiple key platforms, including GitHub Copilot and GitHub Actions, according to githubstatus.com.
The outage, which began around 16:12 UTC on April 23, 2026, initially impacted Webhooks, Actions, and Copilot services. GitHub engineers first reported investigating availability issues for both Copilot and Webhooks early in the afternoon.
By 16:34 UTC, the platform confirmed that GitHub Actions was experiencing degraded performance. Shortly after, the company reported investigating multiple unavailable services.
By 16:52 UTC, GitHub stated that engineers had identified the root problem and were working on mitigation efforts.
Service restoration
Engineers successfully mitigated the degradation affecting Actions and Copilot by 17:03 UTC. Following this mitigation, the company moved into a monitoring phase to ensure system stability.
As the recovery progressed, GitHub reported that many services were mitigated and were undergoing validation. By 17:10 UTC, the company confirmed that Webhooks had returned to operating normally.
GitHub officially declared the incident resolved in a final update. "This incident has been resolved. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we addressed this issue," the company stated.
GitHub has noted that a detailed root cause analysis will be shared as soon as it is available.
