SteelSeries has officially launched the Aerox 3 Wireless Gen 2 gaming mouse. Designed to meet the demands of the 2026 market, the new model retains its signature lightweight build while delivering a comprehensive overhaul of its core performance. Priced at $100/£100, the mouse is positioned to compete in the highly contested mid-range peripheral market.
Performance Upgrades and Hardware Architecture
The core of this update lies in the internal hardware. The new mouse is equipped with the TrueMove 26K sensor, supporting up to 26,000 DPI—an 8,000 DPI increase over its predecessor. Furthermore, the wireless polling rate has been boosted from the traditional 1000Hz to 4000Hz, aiming to provide professional gamers with lower input latency and greater tracking precision.
A review by PC Gamer noted that while the 4000Hz polling rate is not enabled by default, activating it via the SteelSeries software makes the mouse feel significantly more responsive in shooters like Counter-Strike 2, describing it as "lightweight and snappy." Meanwhile, battery life has been notably optimized, offering up to 120 hours of usage on a single charge.
In terms of design, the Aerox 3 Wireless Gen 2 maintains its classic 68-gram lightweight honeycomb shell. While some users may find this iconic design slightly dated, it features internal IP54-rated "AquaBarrier" technology, which effectively protects the internal circuitry from dust and accidental liquid spills.
As for its configuration, the device features five physical buttons and comes equipped with PTFE feet to ensure smooth gliding. For connectivity, users can switch seamlessly between 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth, and USB-C wired modes. Despite stiff competition from brands like Endgame Gear, SteelSeries remains a strong contender in this segment thanks to its robust software ecosystem and reliable connection stability.
Beyond the standard black and white colorways, SteelSeries has also introduced a vibrant magenta version. For gamers who prioritize desk aesthetics, this eye-catching color option offers a more personalized touch.
