Dyson officially launched its first handheld personal fan today, the HushJet Mini Cool, marking a significant step in the application of the company's signature Air Multiplier technology. Priced at $99, the fan carries over the iconic bladeless aesthetic Dyson is known for, offering users a portable cooling solution.

Compact Build and Silent Operation

At the heart of the HushJet Mini Cool is a brushless DC motor capable of reaching 65,000 RPM. According to Dyson’s technical specifications, this motor can generate a powerful airflow reaching speeds of up to 55 mph. Users can manually adjust the fan speed to suit different environments; on its lowest setting, the device operates at just 52 decibels, comparable to the noise level of a standard floor fan.

The device features a cylindrical body with a diameter of just 38 millimeters, making it even slimmer than a standard Red Bull can. Dyson notes that this design aligns with the industrial standards seen in products like the Supersonic r hair dryer. The air outlet at the top of the fan features a specialized geometric design engineered to minimize high-frequency noise through acoustic optimization, helping to reduce listener fatigue during extended use.

In terms of safety, all moving parts are housed internally, eliminating concerns about fingers getting caught in blades or clothing and jewelry becoming tangled. The device is powered by a built-in 5,000mAh rechargeable battery, which Dyson claims provides up to six hours of runtime on a full charge. When switched to 'Boost' mode, the motor speed increases, raising the noise level to 72.5 decibels.

The HushJet Mini Cool will be available for purchase on April 9, initially launching in a 'Stone/Blush' colorway. Dyson plans to introduce a 'Ruby/Sky' version in May, followed by a 'Black/Cobalt' model in June. The package includes a charging dock that allows the fan to stand upright, as well as a lanyard for easy carrying during commutes or outdoor activities. Dyson also hinted that a range of accessories will be released throughout the summer, including a stroller mount and a clip for attaching the device to bag straps or jackets.
