ZA/UM has confirmed that Zero Parades: For Dead Spies will launch on May 21. The studio behind the acclaimed Disco Elysium revealed the date during a recent developer update. Players will initially access the title on major PC storefronts starting in late spring.
The game will be available on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and GOG at launch. ZA/UM stated that the title will receive Steam Deck verification upon release. A PlayStation 5 version is scheduled to follow later this year.
Key Details
Localization efforts differ significantly from the studio's previous major release. The initial launch includes full English, German, Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Spanish support. Allen Murray, studio head, explained the strategy in a statement regarding the release.
"It took nearly five years to deliver the full slate of localizations for Disco Elysium," Murray said. "This time, we're launching with five languages on day one and committing to a faster cadence." Additional languages will roll out through 2026 and 2027.
What This Means
Critics note the narrative style mirrors the studio's breakthrough RPG debut. PC Gamer editor Wes Fenlon described the gameplay as embodying the ideal of a spy thriller with a twist. The writing reportedly offers surprising directions for text-based choices.
This release marks a significant step for ZA/UM following the departure of key creatives. The company aims to prove its ability to deliver high-quality narrative games independently. Industry observers will watch for how the localization strategy performs compared to industry standards.
A Steam Next Fest demo remains available for players to sample before the release. The demo features two full quests and open exploration of the game world. Access to the build ends on April 13.
