Xbox CEO Asha Sharma is restructuring the company’s gaming leadership by promoting long-time employees and recruiting new executives with deep backgrounds in artificial intelligence and technical infrastructure, according to a report from Kotaku.
In an internal memo first reported by CNBC, Sharma stated she is "bringing in new leaders with consumer and technical expertise we do and not yet have."
The reshuffle introduces several heavyweights from the AI and cloud sectors to the Xbox executive team.
Jared Palmer, a former VP of Product at CoreAI and veteran of GitHub and Vercel, will join the technical staff focusing on engineering, developer tools, and infrastructure. CNBC reports Palmer will also focus on matters of "taste."
Tim Allen, another CoreAI and GitHub veteran with experience at Instacart and Airbnb, will lead design at Xbox.
Jonathan McKay, who previously held growth and revenue roles at Meta and OpenAI, will serve as the new head of growth for Xbox.
New focus on automation and subscriptions
New hires also include Evan Chaki, a Microsoft veteran who will lead a team of forward-deployed engineers tasked with simplifying development and reducing repetitive work.
David Schloss, a long-time executive from Instacart, will take over as the new head of Xbox subscriptions and cloud services.
Sharma is also elevating several internal veterans to new leadership roles within the organization.
Jason Ronald, formerly VP of Xbox gaming devices and ecosystem, will now oversee Project Helix and the Xbox platform. Jason Beaumont will lead product and serve as interim head of engineering.
Fatima Kardar, a Microsoft engineer since 2001, will lead a newly formed Personalization organization focused on player-facing features like search and discovery. Jenn Creegan will transition to lead the company’s media business.
While many are moving up, the shakeup also includes departures, including longtime Microsoft veteran Kevin Gammill.
