A viral challenge known as 'Scientology Runs' has recently surfaced on TikTok. In these videos, creators record themselves forcing their way into public Scientology buildings in Hollywood, attempting to penetrate as deep as possible into the facilities before being intercepted or escorted out by staff.

While the organization is notorious for its tight security and secretive rituals, these stunts are largely treated as pranks. In the footage, as the intruders burst through the doors, staff members typically retreat into the building and lock the entrances behind them. Currently, the trend appears to be driven by only two widely circulated videos, suggesting that the actual scale of the phenomenon is far smaller than its social media presence implies.

Controversy and Reflection

This trend has not been met with universal approval. Investigative journalist Yashar Ali, who has long covered the Church of Scientology, publicly criticized the behavior. In a post on X, he argued that such actions are counterproductive, as they reinforce the organization’s long-standing narrative that 'the outside world is a dangerous place full of violent people intent on destroying Scientology.'

Ali noted that he has spoken with several former members who agree that these immature provocations do nothing to expose the true nature of the organization. Instead, they provide the Church with a pretext for further isolation. For the group, these 'invasions' can be weaponized as internal propaganda to solidify members' hostility toward the outside world.

Scientology has long been a subject of public scrutiny due to its high fees and strict control over its members' lives. As a public-facing 'front,' the Hollywood center frequently attracts content creators looking to capitalize on the intrigue. While the videos may seem absurd or entertaining, experts warn that such behavior could cross legal lines and that the negative consequences of these stunts far outweigh the fleeting attention they generate.
