Sony is currently testing a fresh layout for the PlayStation 5 home screen. According to reports from users on Reddit and X (formerly Twitter), the new interface has begun appearing on consoles enrolled in the PS5 system beta program.

UI Tweaks Enhance User Experience

The core of this update involves a reorganization of system applications. Sony has moved the PlayStation Store, Media Gallery, and PS Plus management menus to a dedicated area at the top of the home screen. Users can now quickly toggle between these primary hubs using the L1 and R1 buttons on their controllers.

This change not only declutters the visual space but also shortens the path to essential services. Previously, these functions were somewhat scattered across the interface; the new layout consolidates them, making navigation significantly more logical and efficient.

While Sony has yet to issue an official announcement regarding this UI update, multiple beta testers have shared photos of the interface in action, confirming its existence. Given the level of polish, it is highly likely that this feature will be rolled out to global users in a future firmware update.

Industry analysts who track gaming hardware noted that Sony has frequently tweaked the PS5 home screen since launch, such as the introduction of the "pinning" feature and various sub-menus. Moving frequently used icons to the top aligns with the current trend of minimalist navigation for living room devices.

Although users may need a few weeks to adjust their muscle memory, this more intuitive hierarchy is seen as a significant improvement over the current system. As of press time, Sony has not responded to requests for comment.

As the testing phase expands, Sony is expected to release official details regarding the new layout and confirm its final release date soon.
