Sony Pictures showcased four new images from the upcoming animated feature Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse during the CinemaCon convention in Las Vegas. The release of these stills provides the first visual evidence of the film's production in over a year.

Originally slated for a 2024 release, the third installment in the Spider-Verse franchise has faced significant delays. Sony has now confirmed a new theatrical release date of June 18, 2027.

Visual glimpses of the multiverse

The new imagery offers a glimpse into the film's evolving narrative and art style. One shot depicts Miles Morales sitting on a car with his father in Brooklyn, while another features a high-intensity fight sequence between Miles and Spider-Man 2099.

Another still shows the character Spider-Punk walking above a crowd. During this sequence, the character tells Miles they are "gonna save [his] dad" after Miles is informed that his father's death is a necessary "canon event."

A fourth image appears to feature a flashback, showing a younger version of Miles' father alongside his late uncle, Aaron. This suggests the film will explore the complex history between the two characters.

While the new images provide visual updates, the film's long production timeline remains a point of interest for fans. The delay follows the massive success of 2023's Across the Spider-Verse, which left the story on a cliffhanger.
