Sony Pictures unveiled a slate of major animation announcements, including an R-rated Bloodborne animated feature and an updated release date for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, during CinemaCon 2026 in Las Vegas.

According to Polygon, the studio confirmed that FromSoftware’s 2015 action-RPG, Bloodborne, will receive an animated adaptation. YouTuber Seán William McLoughlin, known as Jacksepticeye, is attached to produce the project alongside Sony Pictures and Lyrical Media.

McLoughlin shared a message regarding his involvement with the franchise. "I am going to do everything in my power to make this the BEST Bloodborne adaptation possible. Not only is it my favourite game ever made but I know how truly passionate the fans of this game are and how much hunger they have for more of it," he stated.

Lyrical Animation's parent company, Lyrical Media, will co-finance the film. No further plot details have been released for the gothic-inspired title.

Spider-Verse updates

Sony also announced that the release date for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse has moved up one week. The film is now scheduled to hit theaters on June 18, 2027.

Attendees at the event viewed footage presented in a 1.43:1 aspect ratio, a rare move for animation designed for IMAX and large-format screens. The footage picks up immediately following the events of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, featuring Miles Morales facing his Earth-42 counterpart, The Prowler.

Returning characters include Peter B. Parker, Spider-Ham, Spider-Man 2099, and Gwen. New imagery also suggests a flashback sequence involving younger versions of Miles's uncle, Aaron, and father, Jeff.

Beyond the Spider-Verse news, Sony confirmed that filming for The Legend of Zelda movie has wrapped. The studio also debuted a teaser scene for Spider-Man: Brand New Day at the start of the Las Vegas presentation.
