GGMods officially launched its Spring Modathon on April 13, a month-long competition designed to reward modders with cash prizes and Steam gift cards. The event runs through May 11, 2026, and focuses on incentivizing high-quality content for five specific titles.
According to GGMods, the platform aims to provide monetary benefits to creators who often struggle to monetize their work. The competition features a total grand prize pool of $5,000, split among the most downloaded mods across the participating games.
Competition structure and themes
The Modathon features five selected games based on recent mod activity: The Sims 4, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition, Fallout 4, Fallout: New Vegas, and Stardew Valley. GGMods selected these titles by analyzing the highest mod counts submitted by creators prior to April 12.
Participants compete for weekly rewards based on specific themes. The schedule includes 'Farming Season' (April 13–20), 'Monster Mayhem' (April 21–28), 'Spring Cleaning' (April 29–May 4), and 'Fae and Folklore' (May 5–11).
Weekly prizes include $100 USD for the most thematic mod in each game, as judged by a panel. Additionally, GGMods will award a $50 Steam gift card to the most downloaded mod of the week. The largest incentive is a $1,000 grand prize for the most downloaded mod in each of the five games.
To enter, creators must register an account on GGMods and upload original content that has not been previously distributed. All entries must be tagged with 'Spring Madness 2026 Modathon' to qualify for the prize pool.
