PC players of Crimson Desert can now create custom characters thanks to a new third-party mod. Although developer Pearl Abyss has yet to implement an official character creator in the game, a new tool released on Nexus Mods has filled the gap.
According to the mod's official documentation, players can access the customization suite through the game’s in-game "Beauty Salon" feature. The mod currently includes 98 face presets and 159 hairstyles, providing players with a wide array of personalization options.
"This mod allows you to build your own character using the Beauty Salon feature," the mod developer stated in the description. Currently, the tool primarily supports female characters, with options for male characters expected to arrive in a future update.
Installation Limitations and Future Expansions
There are some technical limitations to using the mod. Because it modifies the existing Beauty Salon mechanics, it is incompatible with similar mods like 'Barber Unlocked.' Additionally, players must install the JSON Mod Manager and pair it with the Kliff Female Voice Mod to ensure the program functions correctly.
the development team noted that this is only the initial release of the mod. Beyond the upcoming male character options, the developer is currently working on animation replacements, aiming to make custom characters move more naturally within the game's flow.
At present, this feature is exclusive to the PC platform; players on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S are unable to install such mods. While Pearl Abyss previously developed a robust character creation system for Black Desert, they have yet to announce any official plans to bring a similar system to Crimson Desert.
Despite the lack of a native character creator, Crimson Desert continues to attract a large player base thanks to its open-world content and combat system. For those still exploring the continent of Pywel, the developers recommend consulting a comprehensive guide to help navigate the game’s more difficult challenges.
