CCP Games is launching a dedicated starter region called Exordium to help new players navigate the complexities of EVE Online's universe.

According to eveonline.com, the new region aims to reduce the intimidation factor that often prevents rookies from progressing past the initial stages of the game.

Starting this summer, all new players will be funneled into Exordium, a 53-system region managed by CONCORD. This replaces the current system where players are scattered across different high-security systems based on their character creation choices.

Developers believe grouping players together will foster community growth. Placing rookies in the same area allows for easier recruitment into corporations and more frequent interactions between players at similar skill levels.

A new security tier

The expansion introduces a specific 'starter space' security tier that completely prevents PvP within Exordium borders. While players are in this region, their security status will be locked to green, making them immune to standard high-security engagements.

Currently, many new players experience 'anxiety' regarding the threat of sudden attacks. The developers noted that while players are technically protected by certain rules, the reputation of New Eden as a cutthroat environment can be daunting.

'This is intended to provide new players with a secure environment to learn the game without needing to worry about PvP risk yet,' the announcement stated.

To accommodate this change, the security levels of existing systems will be adjusted. All current 1.0 security systems will be downgraded to 0.9, leaving the 1.0 tier exclusively for the Exordium starter space.

Exordium will center around a primary hub system called Manifest. This hub will feature the new AIR Trade Center station and serve as the main gateway to the Yulai region.

To maintain the game's economic balance, CCP Games will implement certain restrictions within the new region. These include higher taxes, limited player-controlled structures, and a curated set of PvE content.

New players will be dynamically distributed across 12 new starter systems based on current player load. This prevents any single system from becoming overcrowded during periods of high player influx.
