Blizzard is preparing to launch its Diablo 4: Lord of Hyper expansion on April 27, introducing players to the legendary region of Skovos and a new seasonal cycle. According to Polygon, the expansion allows players to confront Mephisto's plans while navigating a landscape filled with hellish enemies and ancient secrets.

Players can begin their journey at 7 p.m. EDT on Monday, April 27, with preloading options already available. The release schedule varies by region, including 4 p.m. PDT for the North American West Coast and 12 a.m. BST on Tuesday, April 28, for the United Kingdom.

New classes and gameplay mechanics

The expansion introduces two new classes, the Paladin and the Warlock. While the Paladin was made available to those who pre-purchased the expansion in December, the Warlock serves as the primary new addition to the roster, Polygon reports.

The Warlock functions as a caster or pet-based class, capable of summoning demons and utilizing hellfire to destroy foes. Players can use curses to weaken enemies and spread them through entire packs, allowing summoned pets to finish the job. Progressing through the class unlocks powerful demon servants, including a rideable hellish dog.

To expand character customization, Blizzard is adding talismans and charms to the equipment pool. Talismans provide specific character affixes and unlock slots for charms. According to the report, charms are most effective when equipped as a full set, which grants access to even more powerful bonuses.

Beyond the new campaign, the expansion upgrades the endgame loop with a system known as War Plans. This system provides a curated list of endgame activities for players to complete. By following these plans, players can earn various rewards, including new equipment and crafting materials.
