Even four years after the release of Elden Ring, the game’s vast world continues to yield long-hidden secrets. Recently, veteran dataminer Lance McDonald successfully reconstructed a cutscene that never made it into the final game by diving deep into the game's files.

This discarded footage was tucked away within the residual data of the Haligtree map. According to McDonald’s analysis, the video depicts Miquella during the early stages of development as he plants the Haligtree, even going so far as to nourish the sapling with his own blood. In the description of his video, McDonald noted that this discovery was the culmination of months of meticulous research and cross-referencing.

Unveiling Miquella’s Early Vision

Beyond the visuals, McDonald also extracted accompanying voice lines. In the files, Miquella whispers: "Little sapling, little sapling, grow strong and great. My dear twin, accept this offering, this gift of abundance. This is my final drop of dew. Let all things flourish, whether graceful or wicked. If you desire the throne, carve my vision into your heart. In the new world you create, all things shall flourish."

McDonald speculates that this cutscene was originally intended to trigger when players received the Dectus Medallion from Gideon Ofnir at the Roundtable Hold. However, due to missing connective files, the developers ultimately decided to cut it from the final release.

This deleted content offers a fresh perspective on Miquella’s motivations. As the central antagonist of the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, Miquella’s late-game logic shares subtle echoes with these early lines. While this sequence didn't make the final cut, it serves as an invaluable resource for hardcore fans looking to delve deeper into the character's lore.
