A live-action film adaptation of Elden Ring, directed by Alex Garland, has been spotted by fans at a filming location in the UK. A video posted by TikTok creator THROX shows architectural structures that appear to be pulled directly from the game’s world.

While the authenticity of online videos is often met with skepticism in the age of AI-generated content, Kotaku has reported that they reached out to the uploader and confirmed the legitimacy of several pieces of on-site footage. THROX noted that the set is located within the UK and that the location was first discovered and reported by a friend.

Production Progress Surfaces

The project has been kept under wraps since its official announcement in May 2025. At that time, director Alex Garland traveled to Japan to present a 160-page script draft to FromSoftware head Hidetaka Miyazaki, which reportedly received his blessing. Confirmed cast members include Ben Whishaw and Cailee Spaeny, though the specific roles they are playing have yet to be disclosed.

Although it was widely expected that production company A24 would not begin filming until 2026, no official start date had ever been confirmed. The latest footage from THROX shows props such as wooden carts and barrels, which align perfectly with the aesthetic of the Elden Ring universe. THROX has stated that he plans to upload further footage covering different areas of the set.

Regarding the specific location, analysts have pointed out that the landscape bears a striking resemblance to the game’s "Limgrave" region. While the Church of Marika seen in the video does not perfectly match any existing ruins in the game, the fact that the film is rumored to be a prequel suggests this could be the Second Church of Marika before its destruction, or perhaps an entirely original setting.

Choosing to film on location in the UK not only helps capture the game's signature gloomy atmosphere but also significantly reduces the costs associated with post-production visual effects. With the set now exposed, anticipation for the project’s official production phase is rapidly intensifying.
