The Solana Foundation announced a new suite of security initiatives on Monday aimed at fortifying the Solana ecosystem's defenses. The foundation has teamed up with the security firm Asymmetric Research, which will spearhead the implementation of these technical measures.

At the heart of this rollout is STRIDE (Solana Trust, Resilience and Infrastructure for DeFi Enterprises), a structured monitoring and assessment program tailored for projects within the Solana ecosystem. According to the official announcement, Asymmetric Research will utilize its proprietary security framework to evaluate projects, with the findings made transparent to users and investors.

Incentive Mechanisms and Emergency Response Network

To drive improvements in ecosystem security, the foundation has introduced a tiered incentive structure. Projects with a Total Value Locked (TVL) exceeding $10 million that pass the assessment will receive ongoing operational security support and proactive threat monitoring funded by the foundation. For major projects with over $100 million in TVL, the foundation will provide additional access to formal verification tools for smart contracts.

In addition to the STRIDE program, the foundation has launched the Solana Incident Response Network (SIRN). This is a membership-based network comprised of security firms and researchers, with initial participants including Asymmetric, OtterSec, and Neodyme. While the network is open to all Solana-based protocols, priority service is granted based on a project's TVL.

Despite these significant resource commitments, the Solana Foundation emphasized that project teams remain primarily responsible for their own security. In a blog post, the foundation clarified that these resources are intended to support the ecosystem rather than replace the defensive obligations of individual project teams. The foundation noted that "project teams must maintain rigorous security review measures and should not lower their internal standards due to external support." These initiatives are now being rolled out across the Solana ecosystem, aiming to mitigate systemic risks through transparent assessments and collaborative response efforts.
