Lucid Group reported that it delivered 3,093 vehicles in the first quarter of 2026, marking a 42% decrease from the previous quarter. The company, which manufactures the Air sedan and the Gravity SUV, produced approximately 5,500 vehicles during the same period.

Lucid attributed the gap between production and deliveries to a quality issue involving second-row seats. This supply chain disruption forced the company to halt Gravity sales for 29 days, according to company statements.

"Following eight record quarters, we showed strong results in both January and March which very nearly achieved year-over-year growth on their own," Lucid spokesperson Nick Twork told TechCrunch.

Recall and remediation

The supplier issue also triggered a safety recall involving more than 4,000 Gravity SUVs. Lucid notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that it discovered improperly welded anchors for the second-row seat belts.

Twork confirmed that the sales decline stemmed directly from the supplier's unauthorized changes to the component. The company stopped sales for most of February to ensure vehicle quality before resuming operations.

Despite the first-quarter dip, Lucid confirmed that it resolved the problem and maintains its 2026 production guidance. The company expects to build between 25,000 and 27,000 vehicles this year, a potential increase of up to 47% over its 2025 production total of 18,378 units.
